1. Visit Calvert Marine Museum

The museum is an amazing location for some excellent historical information about the area. There is also a great boatyard and dock where you can see some of the old boats used in the area. The boats in the Calvert Marina include some of the first established in the Chesapeake Bay.

2. Take a Hike through Calvert Cliffs State Park

This state park is home to the largest deposit of Miocene fossils in the world. The cliffs are beautiful and offer amazing views of the surrounding area. There are also several hiking trails to take advantage of while you’re there!

3. Visit Historic St. Mary’s City 

This is the site of the state’s first capital and it is a great place to learn about the state’s history. There are several excellent museums, including an Archaeology Museum. St. Mary’s City was the first planned city in the United States and it is definitely worth a visit!

4. Visit the Piney Point Lighthouse 

The Piney Point Lighthouse is a beautiful historic lighthouse that offers amazing views of the Chesapeake Bay. The lighthouse is also home to a museum where you can learn about the history of the area.

5. Visit the Calvert Marine Aquarium 

The Calvert Marine Aquarium is home to a variety of ocean life, including sharks, stingrays, and turtles. The aquarium also offers a variety of educational programs for children and adults. This aquarium is located in Solomons.

Some of the wineries include Port of Leonardtown Winery, Running Hare Vineyard, and Breton Bay Winery, as well as many others. Maryland is known for its wine production and these wineries offer a great way to sample some of the best that the state has to offer.
